Long
-Term Service Contracts
Multiple
year contracts involved intensive work primarily related to issues
involving closing the gaps in achievement between students of
color and those who come from the culture of poverty and their
more advantaged peers. Dr. Bacon has just concluded three-year
contracts with the Boston Public Schools and The Los Angeles Unified
School District as described herein.
Boston
Public Schools
In Boston the focus was on district-wide change related to closing
the achievement gap, including the development of a district-wide
policy statement and plan, providing professional development
for all administrators , facilitating retreats for the senior
administrative staff and a wide variety of staff development activities
on school sites for staff at all grade levels.

Los Angeles Unified School District
The Los Angeles Unified School District’s three year contract
focused on deconstructing negative beliefs, attitudes and expectations
related to underperforming students of color and those who come
from the culture of poverty. The video outlines a little of the
process used in securing data and shaping professional development
activities for staff in this district of almost 800,000 students.
